Call for papers

The Conference

The 8th edition of the CAID conference (Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Defence), organized by AMIAD (Ministerial Agency for Defence Artificial Intelligence), will take place on November 17–18, 2026, at the Couvent des Jacobins in Rennes, as part of the European Cyber Week.

In a strategic context marked by multi-domain conflict and rapid technological acceleration, the CAID format is evolving: operational challenges and the AI capabilities designed to address them will be at the core of the conference.

A Conference Aligned with Operational Needs

Structured around major domains — Air & Space, Land, Sea, Cyber — the conference will feature:

  • keynotes delivered by representatives from the armed forces and military staffs;
  • panel discussions involving industry, academia, government stakeholders, and the armed forces;
  • technical presentations selected through this call for papers.

A dedicated session will focus on cross-disciplinary topics: AI risk management, data exploitation and quality, and enabling capabilities for operational deployment.

The objective is clear: to accelerate the deployment of state-of-the-art AI technologies by fostering direct exchanges between operational end-users and solution developers.

Focus on Operational Needs and Challenges

This edition will bring together numerous representatives from the armed forces across all services, offering opportunities to present work and engage directly with them. CAID provides an ideal framework for:

  • engaging with the armed forces on their needs and priorities;
  • collecting operational feedback;
  • identifying opportunities for experimentation;
  • discussing conditions for capability integration.

Furthermore, CAID 2026 takes a new step forward with a fully English format, reinforcing its international ambition and encouraging participation from foreign partners and speakers.

Topics of Interest

Submissions should clearly describe:

  • the use case;
  • the proposed AI approach;
  • the maturity level;
  • deployment perspectives.

Technologies initially developed for civilian applications that can be adapted to military use cases are also welcome.

Contributions may include (but are not limited to):

  • decision support and command assistance
  • multi-sensor data processing and fusion
  • autonomy and robotic systems
  • mission planning and optimization
  • multi-source intelligence
  • cyber defense and automation
  • human–machine interaction
  • embedded and frugal AI
  • resilience in contested environments
  • verification, validation, and trustworthy AI

Submissions presenting applied results, demonstrators, or feedback from real-world deployments are strongly encouraged.
